  • Following on from a meeting of The Munster Competition Committee the venue for the 11th of December will now be the Clarecastle GAA Grounds in Clarecastle, Co. Clare The Online entry for the Intermediate and Juvenile B will be re-open until 6pm on the 2nd December Athletes may run both the Cross-Country Relays and the Uneven Age B Cross Country.
    The Intermediate Mens distance will be reduced to 7000m same as masters, and both will run in one race and score in both categories Individual and Team if they are entered in both.
    The Intermediate Womens distance be reduced to 4000m same as masters, and both will run in one race and score in both categories Individual and Team if they are entered in both

  • A big congratulations to Ennis Track A.C. who won team gold in the Junior Men's race at the European Club Cross Country Championships with their team of Dean and Dylan Casey, Niall Murphy and Mark Hanrahan. Dean and Dylan Casey also recorded excellent podium finishes in 1st and 2nd place. Well done also to Michelle Finn (5th Senior Women) and the Leevale A.C. team and Youghal A.C. in the Junior Women's race. Read more here.

  • UPDATE ON MUNSTER T&F SEASON: Following a Munster Council meeting on Monday night, the Munster Council have unanimously taken the decision NOT to hold any Munster T&F Championships this season due to the current situation with Covid-19. At the very core of our decision was the health, safety and welfare of all our athletes, officials, coaches, parents and supporters. There will be a meeting on Friday night (19th) with all County Boards to update them on our decision and answer any questions. Each County can have two representatives at the meeting and notification has gone out to all County Secretaries.

  • Jerry Lyons RIP - The death has occurred of Jerry Lyons, Templemore A.C., former member of Tipperary County Board and the Munster Council. Jerry dedicated a lifetime to athletics and received the Patsy O'Connor Award at the 2017 Munster Star Awards. May he rest in peace. Funeral arrangements here.

  • Cecil O'Leary, Tramore A.C. RIP. The death took place of Mr. Cecil O'Leary, Pond Road Tramore on Thursday 26th March. He was a former Chairman of Munster B.L.O.E. and a dedicated and efficient Officer of the Waterford County Board for years during the 1980's. His sons and daughters were fine athletes with Tramore A.C. in their teenage years. He is survived by his wife Kay and family Peter, Paul, Ronan, Bernadette, Catherine, Ann-Marie, Finbar, grandchildren, daughters-in-law and sons-in-law. All involved in Munster and Waterford Athletics send their sympathy to his wife and family at this sad time for all. May he rest in peace. Due to recent HSE guidelines on funeral gatherings, the funeral mass and burial will be private to immediate family. Death notice here.

  • Munster Half Marathon and Marathon Championships will now be moved to Sunday 4th October. Date of Munster Junior & U23 T&F and Juvenile Combined Events Championships is under review due to the change in National Indoor dates. Any updates will be posted here.
  • Update on National Juvenile Indoors - In light of current circumstances, the Juvenile committee have taken the decision to postpone all 3 Juvenile indoor championship days currently fixed for the 28th/29th March and the 4th of April. The hope is to hold these on the 26th April (day 3 events), the 2nd May (Day 1 events) and 3rd May (Day 2 events). With this in mind the closing date will be moved to the 19th April. The entry system will be updated accordingly. Should it be a case that the championships cannot be held on these dates they will  be cancelled for 2020 and any entries completed will be refunded.

  • IMPORTANT WARM UP INFORMATION FOR SUNDAY: There is no warming up or cooling down on the Horse Course at Limerick Racecourse. Any warm ups must be done on the green areas beside the car park or can be done in the large field at the bottom of the cross country course behind the yard where everyone will congregate. There is a good section there that can be used as indicated in the Course Map here. NO ONE CAN BE ALLOWED TO CROSS THE WHITE BARRIERS THAT MARK THE START OF THE HORSE COURSE.   • Change in Munster Fixtures: Due to a clash with the Youth Nations Cup in August, the date for the Munster Junior T&F and Juvenile Pentathlons has been changed. The Munster Junior T&F Championships will now move back to Sunday 9th June in Templemore with the Senior, U/23 & Masters Championships. Junior athletes may enter, compete and score in both the Junior and Senior age groups. The Juvenile Pentathlons will now take place with the Juvenile "B" Championships in Ennis on Sunday 30th June. Athletes are permitted to take part in both the Juvenile "B" and Pentathlon Championships on the same day. See timetables in next column to the right. See information letter on combined events here.

  • CHANGE OF VENUE FOR MUNSTER AGM: The Munster AGM will now take place in the Woodstock Hotel, Ennis on Saturday 2nd March. Start time is still the same, 11am. To get to the Woodstock Hotel, take Exit 12 from the Motorway, carry on straight through 4 roundabouts. At the 5th roundabout, turn left for Ennistymon, then take the first left for the Woodstock Hotel. The hotel is about 1 mile up this road on the left and the meeting is being held in the Doonbeg Suite.

  • At last Sunday's Munster Cross Country in the Middlepiece, Two Mile Borris, an U/19 athlete left a a pair of spikes behind him in the car park area (beside the exit). They were blue and yellow spikes which contained very expensive, custom made orthotics (black). If anyone remembers seeing them or has any information on their whereabouts, could you please e-mail info@munsterathletics.com. Also lost on the day were a pair of Women's prescription purple sunglasses. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

  • IMPORTANT INFORMATION: SLIGHT CHANGE TO TIMETABLE FOR MUNSTER U14 TO U19 T&F CHAMPIONSHIPS. The change only relates to some Triple Jumps and Long Jumps over the weekend which has been done to facilitate the athletes. With amended timetable, no athlete has to take part in a Triple Jump and a Long Jump on the same day. Changes are highlighted in purple. Amended timetable here.

It has been necessary to do a complete review of the Photo Finish system and retrieve the results from it.  The review finished last night and the results should be available online tonight (Thursday 14th June).   • Munster Development & Performance Squads Update:-
  • There will be no Performance Squad Shot Putt on Saturday as Dave Fratarolli is unavailable. However, an extra session will be put on at a later date to cover this. 
  • All Javelin, Discus and Hammer throwers should go straight out to Borrisokane A.C. Athletics Grounds. There is no need to check in at the stadium beforehand. THIS INCLUDES ANY ATHLETES WHO WISH TO DO THE JAVELIN DEVELOPMENT SESSION. Development session will run from 11am to 1pm in Borrisokane. If unsure of the directions, please give John O'Farrell a call on 087 2210115.
  • DEVELOPMENT Events for Saturday are Short Hurdles with Noelle Morrissey, High Jump with Martin O'Grady, Javelin with Brian Scanlon and Middle Distance with Sean Finn. We have excellent coaches so please encourage your athletes (12 years+)  to attend as these sessions will be very beneficial to them. Session is from 11am to 1pm and fee is 5 euro per athlete.
  • The Middle Distance session for Development athletes will take place in Nenagh CBS grounds but please come to the stadium first to register and meet as a group.

Development Squad takes place from 11am to 1pm and is open to all athletes aged 12 years+. The squad will cost 5 euro per athlete. Please check in at the venue from 10.30am. Events covered on the day will be SHORT HURDLES (Noelle Morrissey), JAVELIN (Brian Scanlon), HIGH JUMP (Martin O'Grady) & MIDDLE DISTANCE (Sean Finn). The Performance Squad takes place from 1pm to 3pm and is for selected athletes only. If any selected athletes did not register yet, they can do so on 25th November. Karen Coughlan & Caroline O'Connell, Physiotherapists with Cahir Physiotherapy will give a practical session on Prehab/Conditioning at the end of the Performance squad.

There are over 200 athletes in some of the younger age groups so please ensure that you leave plenty of time to get to the venue.
